Rhythm of Autumn 2007
On October 7th at the Community School of Music and Arts, over 200 friends and supporters of Peninsula Stroke
Association gathered for the 3rd annual Rhythm of Autumn to honor local stroke centers and enjoy delicious food,
ample desserts, and great wine provided by local restaurants and talented volunteers. Between courses and
conversation, guests bid on an array of silent auction items including original art, weekend getaways, jewelry,
priceless bottles of wine, and much more.
This annual event has raised over $110,000 in the past 3 years to support PSA’s post-stroke support services.
In recognition of outstanding and invaluable service to the community, the representatives from 11 stroke centers
in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties received certificates of commendation from County Supervisor
Liz Kniss, including special Congressional Recognition by Congresswoman Anna Eshoo.
Mezzo-Soprano Jan Curtis did an exceptional and moving performance at PSA’s annual Rhythm of Autumn event.
Jan, an opera singer from Boston, had a stroke in 1995 that left her aphasic. Despite the difficulty with language,
she can still sing. Read a full interview in the Winter 2008 newsletter.
Our sincere appreciation goes to everyone who contributed to making this event a wonderful success, with special
thanks to Kathleen Daly, Event Auction Chairperson, for her selfless support and endless enthusiasm for
PSA works in the community.
